I've just returned to the garret after a trip to New York City. My husband and I go down each summer to take in sights, watch the Yankees play, eat some exceptional food and see some great theater. The trip never disappoints-and this year was no exception. We went to the Bronx Zoo, a place I hadn't visited since I was a child, and got up close and personal with the gorillas and the tigers. We saw Book of Mormon, hottest ticket (still) on Broadway--and the show absolutely lived up to the hype. And we saw Le Miz, an old favorite done again, and it was still as powerful and wonderful as I remembered it. We visited the 9/11 memorial and I was moved to tears--I may write a separate post if I can figure out how to put it into words. All of these experiences are sorting themselves and finding a place in my memory. Eventually, they may come up, polished clean by time, and make their way into my writing. I'm currently working on a romantic comedy set in Manhattan, so some of them might show up sooner rather than later. |
