Book Hooks is a weekly meme and blog hop in which participating members of MFRW (marketing for romance writers) spotlight a few sentences of a book. Join in the fun and hop around with us by clicking on the book hooks image above In honor of my brand new cover (Trisha FitzGerald is a genius, she designed a perfect cover for the the book), my snippet today is from Confessions of the Sausage Queen. The book comes out on July 7. It's a crazy nutter of a comedy, perfect for a vacation escape read. So here, for the first time ever, never seen before (can I build up suspense, or what?) are the opening eight lines of Confessions-- You might think driving all the way out to Over’s Pond, to the little bend where Randy kept the Airstream parked, somewhat illegally, on Big Bill Ludowski’s land, was overkill. It was eight miles out of town. On that day, of all days, I didn't have eight miles to spare. Besides which, Randy, despite the transient look of an Airstream with a chemical toilet, was pretty much a permanent fixture in my life. He had a cell phone. A cell phone whose number was on my speed dial as three, one being Gran Lila’s house and two being Sammy’s school. Given all this, you’d no doubt think driving all the way up an old dirt road to remind Randy to pick up Sammy from kindergarten was overkill. You could have just called, you are probably inclined to say. More about the book on The Sausage Queen page My monthly post at the The Writer's Vineyard is up. I've written about the inner nut, the bonkers girl inside of me who writes my comedies. Here's the address if you'd like to pop by. The inner nut loves wine and chocolate, by the way. Just a hint :)
http://thewritersvineyard.com/ I realized, a few months back, that I'm all over the place in cyber land, so one of the things I'm attempting to do as part of my revamp project is put everything in one space. So this, my website, will become my home. And I hope you'll feel at home here, too.
As part of the overhaul, I've rein-visioned blogging, or my blogging at any rate. and decided I needed two sites, as there are two parts to my writing journey. One is personal and you'll find my personal thoughts on the writing life at Inside the Writer's Garret The other is community, and that's where this blog comes in. It'll be a space sharing--where I can introduce you to other writers and where blog events that involve multiple blogs--blog hops, tour announcements, and such-- can be found. I'll also let you know, here, if I'm off visiting another blog. This will replace my old blog at blogger, though you can access it by clicking on the 'older posts' button in the sidebar. |
A Meeting PlaceOne of the things I love about writing is the great community of writer and readers I've come to know along the way. You can meet some of them here. Hope you'll join in the fun. Find me at Story Finds
